We do text messaging to our friends, customers, neighbors, staff members etc. for many reasons. Whether it may be useful or not, we’ll send huge number of messages to them. Even, we reply more instant. Our SIM card may be boosted up with well offered SMS booster packs. Some Networks give unlimited number of messages per month if a pack is activated. Texting is done by telemarketers who sell real estates.
But, recently TRAI made some changes in sending messages. A customer can send only 100 messages per day with a SIM card. Many people hated this proposal. Some started Facebook Fan Pages to hate this proposal. Many websites, forums, social sites contained articles against this proposal. This affected friends, couples, business men etc. Many mobile networks provided SMS packs for high rates such as 21k messages for Rs.88/- per month.
Do you know why they proposed such limits? This proposal is mainly to prevent awareness that is spreading on all minds of youngsters about Anna hazare. If the spreading of awareness still continues, congress might lose their power as they did multi-thousand scam. The tax payer, who is paying funds for well being of the nation knows the pain of such activities. He/she is being cheated by this scam.
The another main reason of such limits is depression of number of subscribers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). Due to MNP (Mobile Number Portability), more than 75,000 customers of BSNL moved to other networks without changing their phone numbers. If this continues, there would be a huge loss in BSNL. So, TRAI proposed such limits.
We would conclude by saying, “Cheap Politicians” for such reasons. Okay. We’ll come to the point of the recent second update of the proposal of TRAI about SMS limits to customers.
TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India), on September 27 introduced a special rule for messaging. That is, customers can send only 100 messages per day. Many customers were disappointed of this feature. After large number of complaints to TRAI by representatives, a better change has been done to this rule. The change is that, you can send up to 200 messages per day.
TRAI said that increasing SMS limit from 100 to 200 per day can be beneficial to customers.
