Currently the only leading Windows Phone seller in India is Nokia, Targeting its latest release Lumia 630, Micromax is to launch its first Windows phone on June 16th. The devices will be sold under the brand ‘Canvas’, by the manufacturer.
Micromax’s invitation to media, hints about the launch of a Windows Phone, but there is no official confirmation made. Also the specification about the new ones is unrevealed, but the rumors do furnish the specifications.
The phone is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with a 2 GB RAM that comes with a 16 GB internal storage. It is said to have a 5 inch FullHD display and a 13 MP camera with a possibility of 4K recording, and a powerful 5MP front facing camera.
It is said that one device ranges between Rs.10000 and Rs.11000, directly competing with Lumia 630 which cost Rs.10500.The second one is still cheaper costing between Rs 6000 and Rs.7000 which makes Windows phone more affordable.
Other India Smartphone makers like Karbonn and Lava are also preparing to launch their Windows phone. According to analyst, they all aims to enhance their overall market share with Windows Phone.IDC says Nokia has a good market share on Windows platform, increasing the demand for the phones based on that platform.
Micromax already has a strong market in Indian Android phones after Samsung. Now Microsoft has made their Windows Phone platform free for phones and tablets screen size below 9 inches, which increases their growth.
