Windows 8 bids bye to the 17 year old Start Button [leaked images]

Windows users and, for the case most computer users, would be aware of the Start Button that has been having a prominent place on the Desktop interface of Windows OS.It is the starting point of any application unless you have added a desktop shortcut.A recent leaked image of the Consumer preview version of Windows 8 misses the Start button in its place.Microsoft is dropping the Start button after almost 17 years of use across various versions of Windows.

Some of the earlier test builds of Win 8 had a start button which looked much in style to match Metro styled interface. But now it is completely removed from the interface.Without the Start button or orb, the super bar would act like a shortcut dock for pinning of application icons for quick access.

Though the Start button is taken away sources say that a a Hot Corner is featured to do a similar task as that of Start Button.Do you think the retail version would contain start button? Share your thoughts in comments…
