Windows 8 Developer Preview Released : Available for download from Microsoft Website

The much awaited Windows 8 is now available as a Developer preview.Windows fans around the world were very curious to know what windows 8 was being packed with and wanted to test it before it reached stores.Also a earlier leaked build unofficially made available for download created a buzz, though it was not much better than windows 7.

Now Microsoft has officially made available a Developer preview version of the Operating system that proposes to bring about a new Beginning,none other than Win 8.

The interface looks have been redesigned and is much similar to the Windows Phone 7 interface.As previously said this OS would power both Tablet PCs and normal Desktops,notebooks and the like.Touch screens would be great to use this OS which is specially crafted to be touch friendly.

The release also comes with Developer SDKs and tools.One interesting information is that the Metro Apps for Windows 8 can not only be coded with HTML5 but also with Javascript, C/C++ , C# / XAML.

The iso image of the Windows 8 can be downloaded from the official site located Here.It can be innstalled after burning it to a DVD or made as a bootable USB stick.Ordinary DVD would not be enough as the files are larger and so DVD-9 would be needed as advised on the official site.

This Developer preview Runs on same configuration that could run 7 or Vista.Microsoft has also specified a minimum requirement for  the current 8 to run.

  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
  • Taking advantage of touch input requires a screen that supports multi-touch

Also Windows 8 will not be available as upgraded from Windows 7 or the previous versions.

This is explained from the words of Steven Sinofsky during the unveil of Developer preview which said “We re-imagined Windows. From the chipset to the user experience.

This is not the final windows 8.It still has many features to come and some to go.So expect bugs and dont use it as primary OS.
