Many Indian Google users were happy to have google start Street view works in India. The works began by the end of May in Bengaluru. But now Google has paused its progress of Street view as a letter was sent to Google from the Commissioner of Police Bengaluru , as reported by Medianama.

There is no comment on the content of the letter sent, from either side. But Google confirms that the progress of Street View has been paused due to Police concerns.

“We can confirm that we received a letter from the Commissioner of Police regarding Street View. We are currently reviewing it and have stopped our cars until we have a chance to answer any questions or concerns the Police have”. Said a Spokesperson form Google.

The reason for this notice from Police is, at present no Foreign companies are allowed to collect such datas and there are many restriction for a Foreigner to collect photos and data of India.

What would be the future of Street View in India?Let us wait and see!

Thank you for sharing, very interesting information. Great pictures too, I have always wondered how Google went around gathering their information. I have never seen a Google Maps Street View car before so thanks again for the visual : )

Why these laws are like this? Holy Crap ! They can allow Google alone at least to collect information.
